How Fulfillment Location Works

How shipping origin is determined and why it may vary

When you create a product, you may notice it lists multiple “Ships from” countries. This means fulfillment facilities in those regions support the product, but the fulfillment location is not fixed. Orders are routed dynamically based on real-time inventory and logistics.

This article explains how that works and what to expect.

How fulfillment is determined

When an order is placed, the system automatically selects a fulfillment facility based on:

  • The exact size and color variant ordered
  • Real-time inventory availability
  • Production capacity
  • Shipping logistics

If the selected variant is unavailable at a local facility, the order may be routed to another country to avoid cancellation or long delays.

What “Ships from” means

The "Ships from" information indicates the countries where the product can be fulfilled. It does not guarantee that every size and color variant is stocked in each listed location or that an order will always ship from that country.

Inventory availability varies by specific size and color combination and can change at any time. When an order is placed, fulfillment is automatically routed based on real-time stock levels and logistics.

Why shipping origin may affect cost

If an order is routed from another country, due to stock availability, shipping costs, and potential customs or tariff fees may differ.

Fulfillment is assigned automatically based on where the item is in stock and ready to produce. You cannot manually choose or lock in a specific country for shipping.

Can I lock fulfillment to one country?

No. Fulfillment locations are selected automatically and cannot be manually locked to a specific country.
Because inventory updates continuously, shipping origin is determined at the time of order based on availability.

What you can do if shipping origin is important

If it's essential to avoid cross-border shipments, consider self-fulfillment. This approach provides full control over the fulfillment process.
